It directed the two-member inquiry panel - minister A K Balan and P K Sreemathy, MP - to conclude the preliminary probe at the earliest and submit its report. "The CPM has always taken strong positions on issues related to women safety. The party will initiate action in line with its constitution and ethics on the complaint against P K Sasi too", the secretariat said in a statement.

The state secretariat also took pains to contest the claim that the party initiated action against Sasi only after the intervention of general secretary

Sitaram Yechury

. "An inquiry panel comprising A K Balan and P K Sreemathy was assigned the probe then. They have begun the probe and the party would initiate action as soon as their report is filed", the secretariat said.
