Co-op dept offers bank job to Arjun’s wife

Thiruvananthapuram: The cooperative department has extended a helping hand to the family of Arjun, who went missing in the landslide at Shirur in Karnataka, by providing a job to his wife.
Arjun's wife K Krishnapriya has been appointed as a junior clerk/cashier at Vengeri Service Cooperative Bank. As announced by minister VN Vasavan in a press release, cooperative department issued the order regarding the appointment.
Govt based its decision on the cooperative principle of social responsibility and provided legal exemptions to the norms set up by the department's governing committee. The relevance of the cooperative movement lies in its support for ordinary people, said Vasavan.
Vengeri Service Cooperative Bank had earlier offered a job to Krishnapriya when the search for Arjun had failed. The bank had informed the family that Krishnapriya would be appointed as a junior clerk on a temporary basis, with the possibility of permanent employment based on govt regulations. Now govt has made her appointment permanent.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who had visited Arjun's family in the first week of August, had given them a written assurance of all support from state govt.
