CM to inaugurate induction programme

Thiruvananthapuram: A week-long induction training programme for first semester BTech students in colleges affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University will be held from September 8 to 15. CM Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the programme online at 9.30am on Friday.
The induction programme is aimed at providing a better understanding and direction to students in their chosen field of study, as well as to make them aware of the course’s potential. The university will conduct common sessions online while the colleges will conduct offline sessions and training on their own.
On September 11, Anoop Nair, MD, Martin Engineering Corporation, will interact with the students on the ‘a roadmap for graduate students’. On September 12, Dr Varghese Punnoose, head of psychiatry department of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, will conduct a talk on mental health of students, the university authorities informed on Wednesday.
Local self-government and excise minister M B Rajesh will deliver a speech on ‘anti-narcotics’ on September 13. The key-note lecture will be delivered by Dr Jayaprakashan K P, associate professor, department of psychiatry, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. On 14th, a session on the industrial landscape in Kerala will be inaugurated by P Rajeev, minister for law, industries and coir. Former additional chief secretary T K Jose will deliver the keynote address. Sreejith IPS, ADGP and commissioner of road safety, will deliver a lecture on road safety the same day. Dr K P Sudhir, ex-officio principal secretary, science and technology, will deliver a lecture on a roadmap for graduate students to be held on September 15. The closing programme on that day will be inaugurated by minister of higher education and social justice Dr R Bindu.
