Thiruvananthapuram: Chief secretary P K Mohanty's father Prafulla Kumar, who is one of Odisha's first chartered accountants, died at the chief secretary's quarters here on Friday. He was 88.
After retiring as the general manager of the public-sector company Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd, Prafulla Kumar has been heading the Bhubaneswar-based 'Saraswathi Devi Education and Charitable Trust', which provides financial assistance in the field of education.
Besides P K Mohanty, he leaves behind son Praveen Mohanty (finance consultant, Mumbai), daughters Madhuchandra, Madhumitha and Madhulatha, sons-in-law Sarsar Patnaik, Sathyadas (Canada) and Bibhu Mohapatra and daughter-in-law Pranathy Mohanty.
Cremation was held at Santhikavadam crematorium on Friday evening.
A memorial ritual will be held at the chief secretary's residence at 8.30am on Tuesday.
