BJP accuses Anthony govt of 'facist approach'

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">KOZHIKODE: With VHP leader Praveen Togadia deciding to defy the order of Thiruvananthapuram district magistrate banning his entry in the city on Saturday, the BJP Friday accused the Congress-led UDF Government in Kerala of adopting a ''fascist'' approach while the CPIM described it as a "delayed" decision.<br /><br />"No religious organisation has demanded such an action and it amounts to a blatant violation of fundamental rights of a citizen," BJP State President P S Sreedharan Pillai told reporters here.<br /><br />CPI(M) deputy leader in the state assembly Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, accused Chief Minister A K Antony of taking a delayed decision, saying tTogadia should have been denied an entry when he visited Marad earlier.<br /><br />Charging the Antony government of enacting the ban with an eye on the ensuing Parliamentary elections, Pillai said nowhere in the state was the situation communally or politically tense.Antony, he said, was only attempting to "become a hero" among certain sections of society. <br /><br />Asked if the BJP would support the Hindu Aikya Vedi''s reported plans to defy the ban, Pillai merely said that his party welcomed Togadia''s entry into the state.<br /><br />However, Balakrishnan said Togadia should not be allowed an entry anywhere in Kerala, in view of his speech at Marad during his visit after the May violence.<br /><br />"By banning his entry only to Thiruvananthapuram city, Togadia has now been offered an opportunity to enter the state from elsewhere and that shows Antony still favours the BJP".<br /><br />Togadia is to visit Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow to address a ''Hindu Rights Declaration'' rally, organised by the Hindu Aikya Vedi. <br /><br /><formid=367815></formid=367815></div> </div>
