Ayoor accident toll rises to four

The death toll in the bus accident that took place on MC Road at Ayoor in Kollam district on Friday rose to four with one more youth succumbing to injuries on Saturday. Shahana Habeeb, 27, of Kottapurathuveedu, Parakkulam, Adoor, is the deceased.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death toll in the bus accident that took place on MC Road at Ayoor in Kollam district on Friday rose to four with one more youth succumbing to injuries on Saturday. Shahana Habeeb, 27, of Kottapurathuveedu, Parakkulam, Adoor, is the deceased. She was an employee of Accel Frontline, an IT firm functioning in Technopark here. She was under treatment at Gokulam Medical College Hospital, Venjarammood.Also on Saturday, two of the three youths, who had died on Friday night were identified. They are Romy George Varghese, 26, of Chenneerkkara in Pathanamthitta and Lince Thomas, 26, of Changanassery. Romy was an employee of UST Global. He died on Friday night at Anchal Mission Hospital. Lince was an employee of Infosys and she died at Gokulam Medical College Hospital. The first person to be declared dead in the accident was Remya Varkey of Kuruppampadi in Ernakulam. She too was an employee of Infosys and died at Gokulam Medical College Hospital. As many as 15 more IT employees from various companies in Technopark are under treatment at Gokulam Medical College Hospital and Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
Sources in Technopark said that the funeral of the deceased would be conducted on Sunday and Monday. The accident took place at Ayur at 7.15pm on Friday, when two buses collided head on. All the techies who were involved in the accident were travelling in an Angamali-bound KSRC superfast bus. It was a special service launched to aid the techies, which commenced its service from Infosys campus in the city. All the techies were going to their homes for weekend holidays. The KSRTC superfast bus was rammed by a private bus ‘Janatha’, that was going to Attingal from Ayur.
