THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the successful start of literacy programme in Kannada in the border of Kasaragod district, the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority (KSLMA) has decided to launch the same in Tamil. The tenth standard equivalency course in Tamil will begin this year.
Director of KSLMA Alasan Kutty said that owing to rising demand of the Tamil populace in the state, the KSLMA has decided to introduce the course in Tamil medium this year.
"There are a number of Tamil migrants in the state who have expressed their need for joining the mission's tenth equivalency course in the past few years. This year we are inviting applications from the Tamil speaking community too," he said.
As part of the new initiative, a workshop for translating the Malayalam textbooks into Tamil was held on April 22. "The State Council of Education Research and Training and KSLMA faculty members participated in the phase I of the workshop on April 22 and the phase II will be held on May 16, 17 and 18," said

KSLMA had introduced Kannada medium for the tenth equivalency course in Kasaragod last year.
