THANE: Women from all walks of life and age groups flocked to Manaswini 2014, a two-day event organized by a Thane NGO to celebrate Women's Day. The celebrations began at Tip Top plaza from March 7. Women got an opportunity to express themselves and learnt to channelize their feelings in a positive direction.
Nilima Dawakhare organizer of Manaswini showed her multi-tasking skills in the way she planned every programme that helped the participants to showcase different facets of their personality.

Actress Poonam Dhillon, Nilima Dawakhare, Kanchan Adhikari and Leena Mogre graced the inaugural ceremony. "Be happy being a woman and make the most of your womanhood," said Dhillon.
The event opened with Manaswini Miss Thane contest in which 20 contestants walked the ramp, introduced themselves and showcased their talents through dances and the rapid fire round. Leena Mogre, Kanchan Adhikari and Pushkar Jog were the judges.
Richa Agnihotri was crowned 'Miss Manaswni 2014', and Snehal Gore and Disha Nagi, the first and second runners-up, respectively.
Then there was a dance competition where the women danced to popular Bollywood numbers. The programme 'Mothers to-be' was informative about the various aspects of motherhood. Women achievers such as Vaishali Samant, Radha Mangeshkar and Mrunal Kulkarni were honoured. Many more events are lined up for Saturday.

'Nate Tuze Ni Maze' will explain the importance of relationships. The culinary skills of the entire family in cooking a four-course meal will be put to test in another contest. In Ambat-God relations with a person's neighbour will be tested. Queen will underline the importance of a homemaker in 'Bride Forever' women will dress up in their wedding attire.
"A 60-year-old woman has registered for Bride Forever," said Dawakhare. The finale of Manaswini will be the Mrs Thane contest.
