NAVI MUMBAI: A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Thane creek from the old Kalwa bridge on Thursday evening. An hour-long search operation was carried out by firemen and cops.
This threw evening peak-hour traffic out of gear along the Thane Belapur road. Autos and motorcyclists were forced to use the new bridge, thereby increasing the load and leading to chaos.
The snarl continued for over an hour at Kalwa Junction and Creek Naka.
Both Kalwa and Rabodi traffic cops had a tough time clearing and streamlining the traffic at the junctions. But peak hour density made the matter worse.
The bumper-to-bumper traffic spilled over to the connecting roads. The Thane Belapur road was badly affected. “I had a horrible experience while returning to home from my office in Thane. Kalwa junction was overcrowded and it took me almost 30 minutes to reach Vitawa,” said
