Woman assaulted by daughter, son in law after domestic dispute in Thane
THANE: A 55-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by her daughter and son-in-law after a domestic dispute turned violent in a Wagle Estate tenement area, officials informed Saturday.
Authorities said the clash erupted on Friday in the low-income settlement in the Indira Nagar area after water spillage from the daughter’s upper-floor unit into her mother’s room downstairs. This fuelled an already simmering property-related dispute between the mother and daughter, leading to a fresh argument that eventually resulted in the assault.
“The 38-year-old daughter financed the house redevelopment, and ever since, she frequently argued with her mother over vacating the premises. During Friday’s incident, water from a pipe used to lift water to the upper floor spilled into the mother’s room, triggering an argument. The daughter’s husband intervened and allegedly attacked his mother-in-law with a bamboo stick,” the police said.
The victim later approached Shrinagar police, who registered a case against both the daughter and son-in-law. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the assault.
