Where is our 'Rs 8.5 crore?'

Ask the members of Bruhanmaharashtra Apang Vikas Sanghatana as they demand a detail report about this year's TMC budget.
Where is our 'Rs 8.5 crore?'
Bruhanmaharashtra Apang Vikas Sanghatana, the society for handicapped people, demanded the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to provide them with the details of Rs 8.50 crore, a part of the budget, which is supposed to be reserved for handicapped people.
The TMC had reserved around Rs 8.5 crore from this year's budget for handicapped people. It's almost a year now, but none of the handicapped people have received any of these facilities.

To protest against this injustice, the Bruhanmaharashtra Apang Vikas Sanghatana raised their voice and staged a protest on Saturday against the TMC. During the protest they demanded the authorities to show all financial details of this year's budget.
Shreeram Patankar from the Sanghatana, said, "We submitted a copy of Handicapped People Act 1995 to the TMC in January this year. According to the Act, the TMC should contribute three per cent of its profit margin for handicapped people. This year, this amount is around Rs 8.5 crore. The civic authorities agreed the case and had promised the Sanghatna that they will contribute Rs 2 crore instead of Rs 8.5 crore. People from the sanghatana agreed to compensate on the amount and waited for results, but nothing happened, it was all in vain."
He also added that, Chhaya Mankar, the Dy Commissioner had cheated a few of our people. She took around Rs 30,000 to raise stalls from two of our candidates. This is a fraud, as there are clear instructions from the TMC that, no charges will be taken from this category. Now we are demanding for suspension of that officer immediately.
Talking on the topic, civic Commissioner Nandakumar Jantre said, "Our municipal corporation is the first of its kind, who agreed for such type of a provision for handicapped people. We understand that there has been a delay in doing so, but we will definitely try to provide all the facilities to them, as early as possible. I have already sent letters to the concern departments to look in to the matter. We shall finalise the things in the next standing committee meeting.
