THANE: Two weeks ago, the TMC had cancelled the civic ward officer's examination, claiming that the examination could not be held on the occasion of Eid. The TMC had then postponed the examinations to December 13. However, the examinations have been cancelled yet again, as the Bombay High Court has issued a write petition to put a stay on the examinations, on December 10.
Now, the TMC is finding it tough to inform its candidates that they have to cancel the examinations once again.
The TMC has nine ward offices and had to elect officers to these wards. The TMC had scheduled an examination on November 28. The issue was raised when 80 candidates were waiting outside New English School and were informed about the cancellation half an hour after the scheduled time of the examination beginning. The candidates claimed mismanagement on the part of the TMC, as they didn't receive any letters. Now, the same situation may take place on December 13, as the TMC only recently came to know about the writ petition of the High Court.
Around 752 candidates from the state had applied for the examination. The candidates had received a hall ticket and a letter about the scheduled examination a week before November 28. Hence, it was difficult for the TMC to post out a message saying that the examinations had been cancelled. They face the same problem again as they have no time to send out letters to the candidates.
Despite several attempts, Varsha Dixit, chief clerical officer refused to disclose any details.
