KALYAN: Two men who were allegedly involved in betting over the ongoing Indian Premier League (
IPL) cricket matches were nabbed by the
Ulhasnagar
crime unit of Thane police on Monday late night.
Acting on a tip-off, Mahesh Tarde, senior police inspector of Ulhasnagar crime unit led trap and arrested Vishal Sawlani,42 and Girish Jeshwani 41 from the OT section area in Ulhasnagar while betting on the ongoing IPL matches between Delhi Capitals (
DC
) vs Chennai Super Kings (
CSK
) using live commentary on a Mobile application called ‘Mumbai Majha’.
Two mobile phones, a calculator, Rs 14,500 and one note book were seized from them.
The crime branch team during further probe also found the role of Ravi Shetty alias ST and Ram alias RM who were accepting bets on the ongoing IPL matches. The team are now searching for the duo.
