THANE: A truck carrying hydrogen gas cylinders overturned and caught fire on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Palghar district, Maharashtra, early on Saturday. This led to a fire that spread through the vehicle, causing multiple explosions of the hydrogen cylinders. The driver sustained minor injuries.The accident occurred near Vasai on the Gujarat side, leading to significant traffic standstills. Vehicles heading towards Gujarat were brought to a halt, while those traveling towards Mumbai faced delays. The Thane city traffic police has issued cautionary to motorists to avoid using Ghodbunder road to travel towards Vasai, Gujarat. Traffic is being temporarily diverted via Bhiwandi.Firefighters from the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation arrived at the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control within a few hoursAuthorities are currently working to clear the wreckage to restore normal traffic flow.
