Three years on TMT's e-ticket project still on hold
Although the Thane Municipal Corporation has been keeping a reserve budget for E-ticket for Thane Municipal Transport, the plan is on hold this year as well. An amount of Rs 50 lakh has been kept aside from its annual budget, for the past three years. The project is on hold this year as well the reason being the TMC's non-cooperation with the TMT.
To become more high-tech, the TMT had planned on introducing facilities like e-ticketing and GPRS to boost its profits.

However, unfortunately for the TMT, the plan has been flopping for last three years, as the TMC did not help them with the computerization process which is the basic requirement of the project. This year too, the TMC promised the TMT some nine months back about the computerised system, but, failed to provide them. Now, the project is on hold again for this year and TMT decided to work on it only in the next financial budget.
The TMT had sanctioned Rs 50 lakh three years ago for the e-ticket and computerisation, but the TMC did not provide the required accessories for the TMT. Now, TMC claiming that, the delay is due to the Model Code of Conduct. "Though, we sanctioned the budget, we failed to initiate work for the e-ticket and the most affective reason is of Model Code of Conduct. The previous Lok Sabha election's model Code of Conduct and the recent model Code of Conduct which will be on till the end of November for state level Vidhan Sabha elections, have hit the project badly. We will try to provide them the require data only after December as we have limitations of model Code of Conduct guidelines," said a highly placed TMC officer.
"Although, we planned to implement the e-ticket system and GPRS system for our benefit, we failed to make it happen. The reason behind this was that we didn't get any computers or proper data. The TMC promised us that, they will provide us the necessary requirements, but now our system is jammed due to TMC's poor response towards us. For now this project is once again on hold and we hope that at least next year we will make it work," said Kamalakar Dixit, Manager, TMT.
