Thousands of people participate in Tiranga Yatra organised in Ulhasnagar
ULHASNAGAR: Ahead of the 78th Independence Day, thousands of citizens, including students and senior citizens, participated in a 'Tiranga Yatra' organized in Ulhasnagar on Wednesday. Citizens marched along the road, waving the tricolor and singing patriotic songs in anticipation of the Independence Day commemoration.
The 'Tiranga Yatra' is part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan,' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to instill a sense of nationalism by encouraging citizens to display the national flag at their homes.
The Tiranga Yatra, covering around 2 km in Ulhasnagar, was organized by BJP MLA Kumar Ailani from his office and included areas such as Gol Maidan, Chopda Court, and the UMC headquarters.
During the Tiranga Yatra rally, participants sang patriotic songs, and shopkeepers along the route joined in by hoisting the tricolor in their shops.
Kumar Ailani, BJP MLA, said, "This is the fourth year of the Tiranga Yatra, which saw thousands of participants, including the general public from the city, representatives from 27 NGOs, and students from several schools. The motive of this 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally is to invoke a sense of respect for the Tiranga."
'Har Ghar Tiranga' is a campaign that is part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Launched in 2021 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it aims to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it to mark the country's independence. The initiative seeks to evoke patriotism in people's hearts and promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.
