Shraddha Deshmukh (22), a resident of Siddhachal complex at Pokhran Road 2, said, “I had attended a one day workshop in June during which I had learnt how to make bath salts, soaps and much more. I read about the different ingredients that go together and got engrossed into this hobby. So, I thought this time why not make more baths soaps and salts and package them in fancy gift boxes for Diwali. I learnt more through online video tutorials and I taught my mother as well. So now, we both make soaps together and it has become a bonding activity for us.” Some are even staying up till night, designing wall hangings, frames and much more.
“I am making photo frames and wall hangings out of wood and waste materials at home. This has been my hobby since a while now. Last year, too, I made these frames and greeting cards which I gifted to my friends. Every year, I make some new ones for home too. Apart from that, I even painted diyas and added some mirror work. I am planning to complete these gifts by the weekend so that during Diwali I can give this to my relatives whom we will visit,” said, Anaya Deshpande (20), a resident of Ghodbundar Road.
