THANE: Veteran tennis players locked horns at the recently held fourth edition of the Thane Open Men’s Tennis Tournament, organized by Thane Gymkhana. The tournament received over 200 entries. It was conducted in various groups such as men’s open singles, men’s open doubles, amateur men’s doubles and men’s doubles for coaches for people over 35 years of age and veteran men’s doubles for people over 45 years.
In the men’s open singles, India’ s 32nd ranked Shahbaaz Khan, who was the top seed, defeated Saurabh Patil, ranked 39. He won the final 7-2. In the doubles open final, Shahbaaz Khan and Saurabh Patil defeated Abhimanyu Dakwale and Manvir Singh 7-3. In the 35 plus men’s doubles (amateurs), Jagjeet Singh and Ddharmendra Singh defeated Vijay Meher and Rajesh V 7-2 to win the top honour.
