Thane girls make a mark at Sunil Verma Memorial Open championship
THANE: City girls Aishwarya Bhattacharya and Aarya Ogale won top medals at the All India level 3rd Sunil Verma Memorial Open Squash Championship-2014.
The Rs 3 lakh prize money tournament had top notch junior players from across the country, which was rated 3-star by apex body Squash Racket Federation of India (SRFI).
Seeded players in the fray included Aishwarya Singh, Rahul Baitha, Megha Bhatia, Jannia Singh and Thane’s own talents Bhattacharya, Ananya Dabke, Avani Nagar, Ogale and Annanya Morey.

Ogale beat Jannia Singh of Chandigarh in the girls’ under-13 final in straight sets.
Bhattacharya proved her prowess as a top rated player in the girls’ under-17 category. She beat Koel Shankar of Khar Gymkhana 3-0 in the final.
