THANE: A couple was arrested for allegedly killing a 24-year-old man and dumping his body in a plastic bag in a village in Thane, Maharashtra on Friday. The arrests were made on Wednesday, identifying the suspects as Mohammad Siraj Ansari, 32, and his wife Razia, in connection to the murder from October 4.
Police found the victim, Mohammed Aalam Ansari, in an empty plot in Dharol village on the afternoon of October 4, according to SI Govind Patil of Kulgaon police station.
After the incident, the Kulgaon police registered a case under section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and began investigating.
A tip-off led police to Jharkhand, where they located Siraj Ansari. During questioning, he admitted to being the victim’s stepbrother.
"The victim pestered his wife to marry him, and in the wee hours of October 4, the couple bludgeoned him to death with a log of wood at their house," an official said.
After the murder, the couple packed the body in a plastic bag, transported it on a scooter, and discarded it in the village, police said.
