Teen stabs elder brother for scolding mom, held

THANE: An 18-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his elder brother in a fit of rage for scolding his mother following a domestic dispute, late Friday, police informed.
According to the Shil Daighar police, the accused stays in Pune while his mother Noorjehan stays with his elder brother Mohd A A Bari Shaikh (30) and his wife (sister-in-law) in the Sahara colony area of Shilphata abutting Mumbra.
"The mother of the accused and his sister-in-law had an argument on Friday over some domestic issue following which his elder brother intervened and scolded their mother. This apparently angered the accused after he got to know of the confrontation and didn't expect his brother to scold their mother. The accused was in Pune and decided to immediately return home and seek an explanation from his elder brother," the police said.
On returning home, the accused immediately confronted his elder brother on the terrace of their building which led to a heated argument between the duo. Following this the younger brother whipped out a sharp weapon and stabbed the victim in his chest.
"The brother suffered serious injuries and was shifted to a private hospital. Neighbours and family members alerted the police who rushed to the spot and tracked the accused. The accused has been arrested for attempt to murder, and has been booked under several relevant sections of the IPC, the police informed.
