Thane: Schoolteacher ‘shows porn’ to student, held

THANE: Police have arrested a 40-year-old schoolteacher for allegedly showing obscene videos to a student on his mobile phone and touching her inappropriately in the classroom.

The incident came to light when the class 8 student reached school late on Wednesday. The principal scolded her for coming late on a regular basis and called her father to school. At that time, the girl did not say anything about the sexual abuse.

Thane police said later when she went home, she told her parents that she did not feel like going to school because a teacher would show her obscene videos and touch her inappropriately. The parents approached the local police who registered an FIR under Section 74 (molestation) of the Bhartiya Nyan Sanhita and Section 12 (sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested the accused. On Thursday, he was produced in a local court, which sent him to police custody till Saturday.
