During the action, labourers working on barges and suction pumps managed to flee by jumping into the creek, but the team seized four barges and five suction pumps worth Rs 57 lakh, which were later destroyed.

The action was initiated under the guidance of Kalyan Tehsildar Sachin Shejal when the team laid a trap between Kalyan Reti Bundar and the Gandhare area in Kalyan. Shejal said, "During the raid, our team found labourers working at the barges and suction pumps.

Seeing our team, they fled by jumping into the creek."

Shejal further said, "Later, our team seized four barges and five suction pumps used for the illegal sand mining process."
