Nupur Sharma has been summoned by
Mumbra
police in connection with a case for allegedly making objectionable remarks on the Quran and Prophet Mohammed during a recent TV debate.
“We have summoned her to record her statement on June 22,” said a police officer from Mumbra police station. Summons has been sent by post and an official email has been sent with details about the offence registered against her. In their probe, Mumbai police have asked for a video of the show from the news channel where the comments where made.
On May 30, the Mumbra police had registered an FIR against
Sharma
on the complaint of Mohammad Gufran Akmal
Khan
, a madarsa teacher. Sharma was booked for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief, deliberate intent to wound religious feelings of any person, among other sections of the IPC.
