Man arrested for stealing gold and cash to cover exotic pet business losses in Navi Mumbai

THANE: The Navi Mumbai police have arrested a man for stealing 400 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 15 lakh from his cousin's home to cover up losses in his exotic pet business, an official said on Thursday.

Police have recovered most of the valuables and Rs 7.5 lakh cash from the accused Karan Lunsingh Rajpurohit (26), said Pankaj Dahane, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-I Vashi. Rajpurohit committed the theft at his cousin's home in the Ghansoli area on August 19 when the latter's family had gone to a temple. The Rabale police registered a case and launched a probe on a complaint by his cousin.

Acting on inputs, they arrested Rajpurohit on August 25. He told the police that he recently suffered huge losses in his business of exotic pets and resorted to stealing as he desperately needed money.

Police have recovered 370 grams of gold jewellery, 1.5 kg of silver ornaments and Rs 7.5 lakh cash from him, the official said. A court has remanded him police custody till August 30, he added.

Ludhiana rural police arrests a person for murder of his elderly master

Ludhiana rural police have apprehended a migrant worker named Shambhu from Bihar for the murder of Charan Singh, an elderly man. Following a quarrel between the two during agricultural work, Shambhu allegedly killed Charan Singh while he was sleeping in the courtyard. The incident was reported by Charan's son, Sukhwinder Singh.

Police arrest murder case accused at Nellore

Police in Nellore have arrested six individuals linked to the murder of Gunji Ravi near Ramalingapuram underbridge on August 26. The suspects, all with extensive criminal records, ambushed and fatally stabbed Ravi following a dispute. Authorities seized knives and motorcycles used in the crime, commended for their quick resolution of the case.

Man held for stealing 50L jewellery from ex-employers store

A 26-year-old driver named Sandeep was arrested on charges of stealing jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from his former employer's store in Sector 66, Gurgaon. Sandeep gained entry through an exhaust fan space. The police recovered the stolen items from him following his arrest in Rajouri Garden.
