Maharashtra: State transport bus rams into tree on Dahanu-Jawhar road, injures 13 passengers; no casualties reported

A state transport bus, en route from Dahanu to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, collided with a tree on the Dahanu-Jawhar road Tuesday morning, injuring 13 of its 28 passengers. The incident occurred around 9:30 am as the bus navigated a sharp decline. Locals assisted passengers after the accident.

PALGHAR: A state transport bus (ST) rammed into a tree while navigating a sharp decline on Tuesday morning on the Dahanu-Jawhar road injuring 13 out of 28 passengers. This bus was traveling from Dahanu to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar when it hit the roadside tree around 9:30am.T he injured were sent to Kasa rural hospital for treatment out of which two are said to have major injuries which may require hospitalisation of a few days. The locals were the first to reach the spot and helped the passengers come out of the bus using the emergency exit. The officers of the ST department are trying to understand the sequence of events which led to this accident. One could see the huge branches of the tree break into the driver's cabin, who escaped unhurt. Eyewitness said that the bus tried to avoid the on-coming truck which had changed lanes to overtake and while navigating this, the bus hit the road side tree causing this accident. The Vikramgarh police station has recorded this accident.
