Maharashtra shocker: BJP workers make Congress leader, 73, wear sari for posting against PM Narendra Modi
KALYAN: A full-blown political storm erupted in Dombivli on Tuesday after Congress worker Prakash “Mama” Pagare shared a morphed image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi draped in a sari on social media — sparking outrage, protests, and a dramatic street showdown between BJP and Congress cadres.

The post was shared along with what BJP leaders described as a derogatory song.
Pagare, 73, is well known in Ulhasnagar area for his outspoken nature. However, the post triggered outrage among BJP cadres, who termed the act an insult to the country’s highest leadership.
In retaliation, Pagare was allegedly summoned by BJP workers and was made to wear a sari.
The protest was led by BJP’s Kalyan district president Nandu Parab, who strongly condemned the Congress leader’s actions.
“Posting such a distasteful image of our Prime Minister is not only offensive but also unacceptable. If such attempts are made again to defame our leaders, the BJP will give an even stronger reply,” Parab warned.

However, the Congress sharply criticised the BJP’s response.
Kalyan district Congress president Sachin Pote told TOI, “Pagare is a 73-year-old senior party worker. If he had posted something objectionable, BJP members should have lodged a complaint with the police instead of misleading him and then forcibly making him wear a sari. This act is an attack on freedom of expression.”
Pote further alleged that BJP supporters frequently post derogatory content against Congress’s top leaders but they have not acted like them. “We demand that police take appropriate action against those involved in this incident,” he added.
