Maharashtra ATS conducts searches in Thane in terror case

THANE: Mumbai ATS team with the help of Thane Rural Police is searching the house of Saqib Nachan and at least 6 other people in Borivali village situated near Padgha in Thane District and questioning them.

It is not yet known in which case they are being questioned but police assisting them suspect terror angle behind questioning.

To help Mumbai ATS in this operation, more than 400 Thane Rural Police have been deployed in Borivali village so that no untoward incident can happen.

Saqib Nachan has earlier been an accused in the Mumbai Blast case, who was released by the court a few years ago. Saquib's son Shamil in 2023 was arrested by NIA for ISIS module busted in Pune.

According to police sources, this raid was carried out at around 3 am today when ATS and Thane Rural Police together reached Borivali village in the morning where they raided about 7 houses together and are questioning 7 people.

Mumbai ATS has not yet officially revealed in which case the interrogation is being done, but Thane Rural Police suspects that this raid is related to terrorist activity.
