THANE: The Thane sessions court convicted a man and sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murder of his neighbour who tried to intervene in a domestic feud in Diva in 2016.

The sessions judge A S Bhagwat sentenced Akash D Uttekar to life imprisonment from Ahmedabad and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000. Three others accused were acquitted.

Prosecutor Rekha Hiwrale told the court that it was on April 14, 2016, that the accused persons had brutally killed Sameer Mangesh Devalkar over certain dispute in Diva. Devalkar had tried to intervene in the family matter of a kin of the accused and was brutally assaulted which resulted in his death.

The judge in his order held that the prosecution has successfully proved all the charges against the accused beyond all reasonable doubts for which he needs to be convicted and sentenced.
