During this operation, both agencies seized 500 kg of carry bags from a shop in the flower market of the APMC market in Kalyan.

The KDMC and MPCB continue to appeal to the public to use paper or cloth bags instead of single-use plastic. Despite these efforts, some traders are still using banned plastic bags, prompting the KDMC to begin a crackdown starting Friday, which will continue in the future.

The joint operation was carried out by MPCB's Kalyan Regional Officer Rajendra Rajput and KDMC's Sanitation Department Deputy Municipal Commissioner Atul Patil.

During the action, the team also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on shopkeeper Ramnath Gupta.
