Hoarding crashes on Tempo in Thane, three rescued
THANE: In a freak mishap, a huge hoarding erected on a gantry along the Kalyan-Shilphata road crashed onto a passing tempo trapping its driver and cleaner inside the cabin.
Luckily, quick thinking by a team of traffic constables posted at the spot helped save their lives who managed to not just rescue the trapped persons in time and also clear the arterial stretch for traffic promptly.

According to PI Milind Patil of Mumbra traffic police, a tempo was travelling from Dombivli towards Kalyan Phata when a huge iron gantry with a hoarding got unsettled due to the heavy winds and came crashing on it. Incidentally, the huge structure collapsed on the cabin of the vehicle trapping the driver and his aide inside.
Passersby immediately called the traffic police that rushed to the spot and helped extricate the duo safely from the mangled cabin and sent them to the hospital. The team including API Chavan, HC Patil, PC Swami then rushed to clear the traffic that had accumulated at the spot on the arterial road.
In another incident, a 45 year old was trapped inside his sedan after a tree crashed into his car while he was travelling along the Naupada stretch, Monday evening. The rescue teams managed to safely evacuate him from the vehicle and admitted him to a local hospital for treatment.
