THANE: Police in Thane district, Maharashtra have taken action against a godown owner for storing expired food items including cheese and ketchup.

The case was registered against Rafique Siddique Memon following a raid at the godown located at Nhavipada in Bhiwandi on Wednesday, he said.

The goods, worth Rs 24,15,000 as per the retail prices printed on the products, has been seized," he said. 'The raid was conducted based on a tip-off. Cheese, mayonnaise, and tomato ketchup were among the items seized.' The case has been filed under Indian Penal Code sections 273 and 328 at Shanti Nagar police station.

Section 273 pertains to selling unfit food items, while section 328 relates to causing harm with harmful substances. The police are taking necessary legal action in this matter.
