Four days after Kalyan man goes missing during floods, body found in nullah

Four days after a man went missing from flood-hit Ka-mba, near Kalyan, his decomposed body was found floating in a nullah on Wednesday morning. Titwala police said the area had been flooded with eight to 10 feet of water. The floods had affected over 50,000 residents in low-lying area near Ulhas river in Badlapur.

KALYAN: Four days after a man went missing from flood-hit Ka-mba, near Kalyan, his decomposed body was found floating in a nullah on Wednesday morning. Titwala police said the area had been flooded with eight to 10 feet of water. The floods had affected over 50,000 residents in low-lying area near Ulhas river in Badlapur.
Rakesh Solanki (32), unmarried, was unemployed and was residing with his mother, Kuwar, sister Varsha Tiwari and her husband Mithilesh at Maurya Nagari.

His family said they saw him last on Saturday at 7am, when they had taken shelter at another village, as their house was flooded.
Varsha said, "Last Friday, when water started entering the house, we all shifted to a nearby village. The next morning, he had tea and left. He would go out and return only after two to three days, so we thought he would return."
On Wednesday, when they were in an auto, they heard that a man had died in the floods. Varsha said, "I was shocked to see it was my brother, who I identified by his shirt and tattoo." Senior inspector Balaji Pandhare said a primary probe suggested he died in the floods.
Meanwhile, an orphanage for handicapped pets run by a couple, Ganjraj Jain and his wife Dr Archana Yadav, at Chamtoli village was also totally damaged and around seven of the 45 died, while six are still missing.
