Thane: City’s Dnyansadhana College beat Kalyan’s Birla College by 166 runs in the first round of Dattu Thanekar Memorial Trophy Inter-College Cricket Tournament that was held at Central Maidan on Monday. The tournament was organised by Shri Anand Bharti Samaj of Thane.
Deciding to bat first, the players of Dnyansadhana College put up a target of 293 runs on the board, by losing 8 wickets in 45 overs.
Vicky Patil contributed 119 runs in 96 deliveries, with 2 sixes and 12 fours. He was supported by Omkar Ambre who scored 103 runs.
Yogendra Pawar and Harshad Mhatre from Birla College took two wickets each. However, when they came to bat, they managed to score just 127 runs before getting all out in 25.5 overs.
Suraj Salunke from Dnyansadhna College managed to take four wickets with his impressive bowling. Yogesh Kulkarni and Prasad Mhoprekar too chipped in by taking two wickets each. Vicky Patil was the star of the show and won the Man of the Match award.
