Eknath Shinde has suspended the dean and deputy dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial Hospital, Kalwa holding them responsible for the poor facilities in the hospital, officials said. Shinde communicated the suspension orders to Thane municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar after a scheduled visit to the hospital premises on Saturday evening to inaugurate a library for relatives of patients and the upgraded maternity ward.
The chief minister decided to take a sudden tour of the campus and noticed the working condition of the facility and the adjoining medical college weren’t up to the mark. Shinde expressed his ire at the manner in which the facility was operated and as the administration failed to provide proper explanation, the CM directed the commissioner to immediately suspend the dean Dr.
Yogesh Sharma and deputy dean Dr Suchit Kumar Kamkhedkar, an official from the CM’s office said. —Manoj Badgeri
