Celsius see-saw may soon stop as winters set in: MET
Thane: The
While there has been a drop in the minimum and maximum temperatures by a few notches since the last couple of days, residents were still facing heat in the majority part of the day due to the humidity and the sunny skies. The nights, however, saw a temperature of 24 degree
Experts believe this gap is expected to lessen by the coming weekend after which the chills would increase from November 25, ushering in the winter season.
Mahesh Palawat, Chief Meteorologist at Skymet weather said, “The recent cyclonic activity in the Bay of Bengal gave south easterly winds towards to Thane and its adjoining areas which had brought about an increase in the maximum temperatures this week. But now that this phenomenon has passed and the winds are heading towards Oman and Arabian sea the winds will change back to north easterly, bringing cooler climatic conditions to the coastal areas. By next week officially, the transition from monsoon to winter will take place and the minimum temperatures will drop drastically.” Some residents have already started their hunt for the woolens, gearing up for the cold to come.
Anaya Bhave, a resident of Ghodbundar Road said, “After 9 pm, when I travel from the station to home on the two-wheeler I can feel the cold breezing. Even in the early mornings it is quite cold so we don’t even have to switch on the fan.”
