KALWA: The 34th Thane District Body Building Championship held at Kalwa saw local boy Siddhesh Raut bagging the Thane Uday title, while the Thane Kishore title went to Vinod Gaikar of Kalyan.
Girish Shetty from the city won the Thane Shree title and Sanjay Amberkar bagged the Thane Shriman title. The event had over 250 participants in various groups depending on their height (short, medium, tall and super-tall groups).
Body builders from Thane district took a plunge into the competition ring at the recently held 34th Thane District Body Building Championship at Kalwa to stake their claim for top honours by flexing their bulging muscles.
The event, jointly organized by Thane District Amateur Body Building Association and Apollo Gym of Kalwa, had over 250 contestants taking part in various groups on height basis.
Local boy Siddhesh Raut of Anand Spurti Vyayamshala (ASV) was crowned the Thane Uday title whereas Thane Kishore title was won by Vinod Gaikar of Kalyan. Prasad Lokhande of ASV swept the coveted Thane Kumar title. Thane lad Girish Shetty of Sujay Gym emerged as Thane Shree who was also the winner in tall group. Sanjay Amberkar of host Apollo Gym reigned supreme to bag the Thane Shriman title.
The top three body builders in different groups were Ajay Patil, Swapnil Surve, Haresh Vishe (short group), Santosh Patil, Pandit Patil, Vedul Kamte (medium group), Girish Shetty, Amol Sawant, Gyandep Bhoir (tall group), Prakash More, Prashant Chavan and Vilas Patil (super-tall group). Kalyan taluka won the team championship.
