THANE: A day after two youths drowned in a Pogaon area of
Bhiwandi
taluka of Maharashtra's
Thane district
, their bodies were found on Thursday morning.
Yasim Shaikh (15) and
Imran Khan (18) were at the pond for a swim with two other friends on Wednesday when at 6.10 pm, both the boys drowned in the deep waters.
After receiving information, a fire brigade team along with local police had rushed to the spot and had started searching for the duo. However, after two hours, the rescue operation was stopped due to darkness.
Rajesh Pawar, Chief Fire Officer of
Bhiwandi Fire
brigade said, “Our team on Thursday morning began the rescue operation during which they found both the bodies”.
Following the incident, the local Bhiwandi rural police registered an accidental death report, and after post mortem, handed the duo's bodies to their relatives.
