Auto driver return valuables of Rs 4 lakh of woman with help of police in Kalyan

The honesty of a rickshaw driver came to be seen in Kalyan, where he with the help of police returned the bag containing gold jewellery of worth around Rs 4 lakh of a woman, who accidentally forgot the bag in his auto rickshaw.

Rickshaw driver Mohan Rathod has been felicitated by Mahatma Phule Police. The woman also thanked the rickshaw driver and the police.

Namrata Deshmukh, a resident of Thane, was going to Murbad for a wedding ceremony. Before that, she was going to Chikanghar area in Kalyan West to meet her relatives.

After alighting from the local at Kalyan railway station, Namrata took a rickshaw for Chikanghar and placed one of the three bags near him behind the seat of the rickshaw.

After reaching Chikanghar, Namrata got down with two bags. She later realised that their jewellery bag had been forgotten in the rickshaw.

She immediately reached Mahatma Phule police station informing about the same.

Taking serious note of issue Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Salvi instructed team to check the CCTV at station and they got number of the rickshaw through which they got his mobile number.

Police said when the rickshaw driver was contacted, the rickshaw driver Mohan Rathod honestly said that the bag is in the rickshaw and he was also searching for woman to return bag. He even told police that he was planning to keep bag at rickshaw union office near station.
