Badlapur abuse case: Lawyer of slain accused recreates scene of encounter
THANE: The lawyer representing Akshay Shinde, accused of sexually assaulting two nursery students, has recreatead the sequence of events, beginning with the timing of his shifting from Taloja jail and subsequent killing by the police in retaliatory firing, thus questioning the police theory. The lawyer, Amit Katarnavare, declined to elaborate saying he would submit it in the court.
Addressing the media, the lawyer also raised concerns over the difficulty in securing a burial space for Akshay Shinde, calling it "unfortunate". This issue has prompted discussions about the post-handling of the body, with questions being raised over delays in the burial process.
"He was not proven guilty of any crime, but the things surrounding the mystery death point to the fact that he should get justice and not let the police have the chance to be the judge," said the lawyer.
Meanwhile, the health of three police officers involved in the encounter remains under the supervision of the medical team at the private hospital. Senior Inspector Sanjay Shinde and constable Abhijeet More were admitted due to high blood pressure. Both are expected to be discharged by Sunday, if their condition improves. However, Nilesh More, who sustained a leg injury with a bullet purportedly shot by Akshay Shinde, will remain in hospital for a few more days, said a police officer.
