THANE: As many as 24 candidates will contest Thane lok sabha elections, as the deadline for withdrawal of nominations concluded on Monday.
Manisha Jaibhaye-Dhule, the Election Officer announced that one independent candidate withdrew his nomination, reducing the number of candidates in the fray to 24.
The process, which saw a total of 35 nominations, underwent scrutiny, resulting in 11 candidates being deemed invalid.
With 24 candidates remaining, the stage is set for electoral contest in Thane.
The candidates, representing a diverse range of political affiliations and ideologies, have been allotted symbols, signifying their respective campaigns. From traditional party symbols to unique representations like "Auto Rickshaw," "Stethoscope," and "TV Remote," the electoral arena promises a dynamic battle of ideas and aspirations.
