THANE: In a bid to reduce traffic snarls and put an end to illegal parking along the roadside, TMC chief Sanjeev Jaiswal sealed two authomobile showrooms on Thursday.
The
TMC officials sealed Maruti’s Fort Point showroom at Gladys Alwares Road and Modi Hyundai showroom at Pokhran Road 2. The on-duty traffic police officials helped the civic officials to tow the cars that were kept on display.
Jaiswal has also directed his officials to conduct an enquiry against all car dealers who are parking their showroom vehicles on the main road, leading to traffic jams.
The civic chief has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to all showrooms in the city to clear the streets of their vehicles, failing which legal action would be taken against them.
Apart from towing vehicles lined up illegally along the road, the offenders will also have to cough up a fine of Rs 10 lakh, said Jaiswal.
