SURAT: A woman was killed in firing while two others suffered bullet injuries outside an ice factory in Sachin GIDC here on Sunday night. Rajrani Mishra, 40, was at a grocery shop near the ice factory when a bullet hit her in the chest. The deceased, who worked as a security guard, was standing with her colleagues at the shop when three undefined miscreants arrived at the spot on a motorcycle and fired at a group of people sitting outside the shop near Ishwar Nagar.
Police said the miscreants wanted to threaten a witness in a murder case. Two accused - Rajkumar Thakur and Akhilesh Pandit - were arrested on Monday. Pradip Kushwaha and Vishal Jariwala who were injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Police recovered a country-made pistol from the spot. Four rounds were fired from the weapon. Police also recovered the motor-cycle. Search is on for the third accused. Cops held Harishchandra Yadav and Bharat Yadav and seized five country-made pistols and three live cartridges. A country-made pistol, two live cartridges and one magazine were recovered from Ashish Pande and Dilip Singh in another operation.
