Wife, lover booked for abetting suicide

Surat: Police booked a Valsad woman for abetment of suicide of her husband. The woman’s boyfriend was also named as co-accused in the FIR filed in Valsad rural police station on Wednesday late evening.
According to police, Kawaljeetsinh Thakur, chief manager of a private bank at Vapi had ended life by hanging in February this year at his residence.

Based on the complaint filed by Rajvirsinh Thakur (63), a retired Indian Air Force sergeant and father of the deceased, police booked Kawaljeetsinh’s wife Bhumika and her boyfriend Sunil Varma for abetment of suicide.
The complaint was lodged based on the forensic report of video and audio recordings recovered from Kawaljeetsinh’s mobile phone. Police said that the audio and video clips suggested that Bhumika instigated her husband to end his life multiple times during their arguments. One audio clip also revealed that Kawaljeetsinh knew about Bhumika’s affair with Varma. Kawaljeetsinh tried to convince Bhumika to end her affair but she refused to do so.
Kawaljeetsinh came in contact with Bhumika when they were working together in a bank and got married in January 2013. They belong to the same community. The couple have two sons. About 2.5 years ago Kawaljeetsinh came to know about his wife’s affair. He discussed the issue with his father and Bhumika’s family. But she continued her relationship with Varma.
Kawaljeetsinh recorded multiple audio and video clips on his mobile phone while attempting to convince Bhumika before taking the extreme step.
