Two wounded by sword in fight over dog poop

Surat: A 22-year-old college student and her brother were allegedly attacked by their neighbours with a sword in a fight over their pet dog's poop. The accused — three brothers — also allegedly assaulted the victim's father, who had taken the dog for a walk on Saturday afternoon. Pandesara police have charged the three brothers for causing grievous hurt, using criminal force against a woman and outraging her modesty. According to the complaint filed by the college student, she lives in a society in the Pandesara police station jurisdiction. The three accused — Sachin Giri, Suryabhan Giri and Rohit Giri — own Shri Ganesh Packers and Drinking Water Plant, which is in the same society. At about 3pm on Saturday, the victim's father took their pet dog for a walk. After a few minutes, the victim, her brother and mother heard the sound of a loud quarrel and headed towards it. They then found the brothers quarrelling with the complainant's father. As the matter heated up, Sachin allegedly struck the victim's brother on the head with a sword. When the victim tried to save him, Sachin touched her indecently and also attacked her, causing injuries near her right eye. The three brothers were demanding that the dog poop be cleaned up. The complainant's father argued that the poop was on a public road and not in anyone's private premises. Suryabhan and Rohit got angry and started hitting the complainant's father with a metal rod and a plastic pipe. As other people gathered, the brothers fled. All three victims were taken to hospital in a 108 ambulance. After being treated at Civil Hospital, the complainant was shifted to a private hospital due to her serious injuries. The complainant also alleged that the accused would make obscene comments about her when she passed by their commercial unit. Pandesara police booked the three accused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 118 (2), 115 (2), 74 and 54 and have begun a search for them.
