More than 30 buses were arranged by the Gujarat Road State Transport Corporation (GSRTC) to ferry the passengers towards Nandurbar. While most of the buses were brought outside the railway station to facilitate the easy boarding by the passengers, some of the buses left for Nandurbar from the Delhi Gate bus station on Monday.

Official sources said that heavy rain continuing in Nandurbar region washed away around 300 metres of railway tracks, resulting in the derailment of coaches of Surat-Nandurbar train at Nandurbar section.

The Bhusawal-Surat fast passenger, Surat-Bhusawal Passenger and Bhusawal-Surat Passenger were cancelled.

Around 19 long distance trains, mostly going towards Howrah, Chennai, Chappra, Bikaner, Danapur, etc. were diverted via Vasai Road, Itarsi, Vadodara, Ratlam, etc.

The Ahmedabad-Puri Express departing at 6 pm on Monday was re-scheduled at 8 am on Tuesday, while the Ahmedabad-Howrah was re-scheduled from 12:15 am on Tuesday to 5:15 am on Tuesday. Around four trains including Malda-Surat was short terminated at Nandurbar, Bhusawal-Surat Passenger at Chaupale and Surat-Bhusawal Passenger at Navapur.

This is the second time when the passengers from Surat have had to face difficulties due to the derailment in the last one week. Last week, the container cargo wagons had derailed near Dahanu. Area railway manager, S K Yadav said, "The GSRTC did a wonderful job by pressing their buses on the Nandurbar route. More than 30 buses left from the station with passengers."
