Textile businessman’s wife dies by suicide

Surat: Khyati Kejriwal (28), wife of city-based industrialist Abhishek Kejriwal, allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday evening at the couple's bungalow in a society on the posh Ghod Dod Road area. The couple had married just two months ago in Feb.Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) VR Malhotra said, "Umra police received a call from Maitri Hospital on Tuesday evening where the victim had been taken after the incident. When police reached the hospital, it was learnt that she had allegedly hanged herself with a dupatta in her bedroom."Police registered an accidental death based on information provided by Ashok Kejriwal. A postmortem examination was conducted by a panel of doctors on Wednesday. The preliminary cause of death was found to be hanging. However, the viscera has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further analysis."We have not found any suicide note so far and are investigating the circumstances that may have led her to take the extreme step," Malhotra said.According to police, members of the Kejriwal family have denied any marital disputes. As Khyati's parents and relatives were occupied with the last rites, their statements will be recorded later to ascertain if there were any issues. Police have also seized the deceased's mobile phone, which will be sent to the FSL for examination.Ashok Kejriwal and his son Abhishek are well-known textile businessmen in Surat. The wedding had drawn several prominent politicians, bureaucrats, police officials and industrialists.
