SURAT: A 56-year-old man died after an argument with a tempo driver over rash driving on Saturday afternoon.
Police arrested the driver, Mayur Mer (39), after reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.
The incident happened at Ratnamala crossroads around 3:30 p.m. Jitendra Kanthariya and his son were waiting at a traffic signal when a tempo hit their motorcycle.
An argument ensued between Kanthariya and the tempo driver about the driver's actions. When Kanthariya got off his motorcycle and approached the tempo, the driver ran him over.
The tempo dragged Kanthariya for approximately 15 feet before the driver fled the scene.
Kanthariya died at the scene.
The accused driver told police that the father and son attempted to assault him after the collision. He stated that when he tried to leave, one of them stood in front of his vehicle.
The police registered a case against the driver at the Katargam police station.
