SURAT: She has become an inspiration for scores of teenagers of her age who waste time watching television and doing nothing during vacation. Meet Juhi Agarwal, a 14-year-old class IX student of Lourdes Convent High School, who has written a book for teenage readers.
Juhi has made her literary debut with The Twins Ring The Bell of Canada,' which is published by Delhi-based Arya Publishing House.
About 5,000 copies of the book have been printed and will soon reach the bookstalls.
"No I am not the next Chetan Bhagat," she laughed. "People like Chetan Bhagat are famous. I don't think that is going to happen with me."
Juhi, daughter of a chartered accountant father Shivkumar Agarwal, was inspired to write the book because of her reading habit. It took about 25 days for her to scribble the fiction on a plain paper and then convert it into a text format on her computer.
"I used to pen down my emotions and ideas on plain paper. On the last day when I completed the fiction, I showed it to my parents and they were amazed," Juhi said.
The book is all about teenage twins Jia and Tia. Their father is an Indian diplomat, who is transferred to Canada as ambassador. He has to shift to Canada with his family and the twins are upset about it. Nevertheless, they have no option but to go. In Canada, they become an inspiration for other teenage children by performing excellently in academics, sports, elocution competition and extra curricular activities.
Juhi said her plans for next summer vacation is to pen down another fiction. She wants to become a chartered accountant like her father.
"I am proud of my daughter. Few children of her age think of writing a book and actually get it published," Shivkumar Agarwal said.
