Surat: This primary school teacher, Nilesh Patel, had spent around 20 years at one school and had once been awarded by the govt for being a versatile teacher. The 45-year-old primary school teacher has, however, been transferred six times in the past two years, some transfers being on his request.
Patel claims he has exposed irregularities in an association of primary teachers in Valsad. He claimed to have objected to the collection of Rs 2,500 from each school teacher by the association and demanded a receipt for it.
Patel now works at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Valsad. Until 2022, he was posted at Manda Nanakapada primary school in Umargam.
Patel is from Samroli village of Navsari, from where around 150 people work as school teachers at different locations. Earlier, he has worked at a school in Ghotva, a village on the Gujarat-Maharashtra border, Mrugmal village school, and Sorathwad school.
On his request, he was posted at Asura Primary School in July. Officially, he is posted at this school, but he works at DIET, Valsad.
Ketan Patel, principal of Nankapada school, said, "Thanks to Patel's efforts, our school now has 482 students, where only 140 studied earlier. He got land and expanded the school campus."
